Part 6 – The Finnish Ski Area Association’s Sustainability Work – Requirements and Targets for Member Ski Resorts

Osion sisältö

The Finnish Ski Area Association requires its member ski resorts to commit to
sustainability work. An environmental programme has been a requirement for the
Ski Resort of the Year Award since spring 2023.

Member ski resorts are also required to report on their sustainability performance
annually. The Association has developed a free reporting tool for this purpose. Its
sustainability reporting covers environmental responsibility, social responsibility,
and financial and governance responsibility in accordance with the ESG
framework.

Targets set for member ski resorts include:

  • 90 % of the industry has a sustainability programme in place.
  • 80 % of the industry has calculated and reports its Scope 1 and Scope 2
    emissions.
  • 60 % of the industry has prepared a biodiversity development and action plan.
  • 80 % of the industry uses electricity produced entirely from zero-emission energy
sources by the end of 2026.
  • 60 % of the industry has calculated its Scope 3 emissions and prepared a plan to
reduce them by the end of 2027.
