Levi Extends the Season – Skiing for More Than Seven Months
Levi is set for a record long winter: the 2024–2025 season runs from 4 October 2024 to 18 May 2025, giving skiers more than seven months on the slopes. Here are seven highlights that make this an exceptional season in Finland’s biggest resort.

Levi’s winter is record-long. The ski season began on October 4, 2024, and the last turns are planned for May 18, 2025.
Levi isn’t leaving the long winter to chance. The resort opened early and has a packed programme of upgrades and events – from a brand-new chairlift to competition week celebrations, brighter lights and safer training features. Below are the season’s seven key highlights.
1. New chairlift – Levi Six
The season’s headline upgrade is a brand-new chairlift serving Run 6: Levi Six. The modern covered six-seater reaches the upper slopes in under 3.5 minutes, carries up to 3,000 persons per hour, and has heated, wider seats plus motion-damping features to keep it running even in windy conditions. Levi Six helps open the northeast slopes more comfortably and will operate through 18 May 2025.
2. November World Cup becomes a celebration
The Alpine World Cup returns to Levi on 15–17 November 2024, and this year’s event doubles as an anniversary celebration: it’s 20 years since Levi first hosted a World Cup. The race week is particularly festive as men’s events rejoin the programme after a multi-year break. Levi’s extraordinary snow reserves – a record 260,000 m³ of stored snow – guarantee reliable race conditions in mid-November.

3. International training centre
The season opened on Glacier runs on 4 October 2024, and the hill was already hosting freestyle national teams during the opening weekend. Thanks to excellent conditions, Levi attracts top alpine and freestyle groups early: in October–November 2024 there are roughly 150 training groups from more than 30 countries using Levi for pre-season preparation.
4. Brighter and more dramatic lighting
Levi Black – the World Cup stage – has received a full lighting renewal. About 280 modern LED fixtures now illuminate the competition venue with adjustable programs (including aurora-style effects), delivering brighter, more even night skiing and an improved spectacle for visitors.

5. Safer landings for freestyle skiers and snowboarders
Freestyle athletes gain a new safety feature: an inflatable landing airbag on the front slopes. The airbag lets snowboarders and freeskiers practise jumps with reduced risk; the plan is to have the landing pad ready in November 2024.
6. Improved south-side family services
The south slopes remain a family favorite. Leevilandia has a new forest run with coloured lighting, and the indoor family space Leevin Kotipesä (Leevi’s playground) has added more activities for balance and play. To ease congestion, hundreds of new parking spaces are being created near the lower station, and shuttle buses now run more frequently to the south slopes.

7. New slope-side dining at Levi West
A new bistro-style slope restaurant opens at Levi West Point in spring 2025. The venue sits beside the lower station and will offer sunny terrace dining with views over the West slopes – a perfect spot for spring-time lunches.
Season note: Levi opened for 2024–2025 on 4 October 2024 and plans to keep lifts turning until 18 May 2025, making this one of Finland’s longest continuous ski seasons.
