Iso-Syöte Gets Bigger, Better and More Versatile – Meet the Iso-Syöte Express
Finland’s southernmost fell grows up: a new high-capacity chairlift reshapes summer and winter access, extends runs, and cements Iso-Syöte as a family-friendly and year-round outdoor destination.

Investments haven’t distracted Iso-Syöte from what really matters: the fell is made for skiers and bikers alike. The Iso-Syöte snow parks are a perfect example of that.
A modern six-seater chairlift, the Iso-Syöte Express, opened on August 30, 2025. The ride to the summit now takes under 3.5 minutes, about half the previous time. Skiers and snowboarders can enjoy longer, more continuous runs: the front slopes gain about 250 meters of additional length, and the new lift links directly to back-side terrain that was previously harder to reach.
The Express is designed for year-round use. In winter it carries up to 2,800 people per hour, and in summer up to 700 cyclists per hour, supporting Iso-Syöte’s growing mountain-biking and hiking services. The total investment is nearly € 8 million, partly co-funded by the EU.

Families and beginners remain front and center
Iso-Syöte is known as a family-friendly ski resort, and that won’t change. The resort’s Snow World kids’ area continues to be a highlight: gentle slopes, covered conveyor lifts, and small t-bar lifts make it a safe and fun place for children and beginners to learn.
The resort has also invested in practical details like traffic flow and parking, making arrival and departure smooth even during busy holiday weeks.

Year-round destination: biking, hiking and new stays at the top
The new lift boosts Iso-Syöte’s summer appeal as well. Mountain bikers and hikers can use the Express for fast, easy access to trails. Rental services and trail networks are expanding, confirming the resort’s position as a four-season outdoor destination.
Accommodation has improved too. The KIDE hotel by Iso-Syöte, opened in 2019 near the base station, offers immediate lift access and services tailored for active travelers. At the summit, a modern design hotel now welcomes guests after being rebuilt following the 2018 fire.

Smart investments for reliable seasons
Iso-Syöte has strengthened its snowmaking system and upgraded slope lighting to guarantee good skiing conditions throughout the season. These improvements also support night skiing and ensure that the resort can extend its operating season in years with challenging weather.
Why Iso-Syöte Express matters for international visitor
- Quick summit access: more skiing, less waiting.
- Family focus: excellent kids’ areas and beginner slopes with professional instruction.
- Four-season appeal: a single destination for skiing, biking and hiking.
