The Current State of Climate and Nature Work in Finland’s Ski Resort Industry

The Finnish ski resort industry has taken long-term, concrete steps toward environmental responsibility. Efforts have primarily focused on improving energy efficiency and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

The Finnish Ski Area Association (FSAA) supports and encourages its member companies to take even broader and more impactful actions to reduce their climate and nature impacts. The goal is for all SHKY members to operate responsibly, taking both the climate and biodiversity into account.

Vision and Roadmap

The Finnish Ski Area Association (FSAA) supports and promotes its member companies’ efforts to mitigate the climate crisis and biodiversity loss. To reduce climate and nature impacts, the association encourages its members to increase their awareness and understanding of climate and biodiversity issues, assess their environmental impacts, set measurable goals to minimize them, and take concrete actions to achieve those goals.

Climate and Biodiversity Vision of the Finnish Ski Resort Industry

The Finnish Ski Area Association (FSAA) has an ambitious goal: to position the ski resort industry among the national forerunners in managing climate and biodiversity impacts – and in promoting positive environmental outcomes across Finland.

FSAA has developed a Climate and Biodiversity Vision that outlines the industry’s desired future state. With this vision, FSAA supports and encourages its member companies to take broader and more impactful actions to reduce their climate and nature impacts.
